Our approach: the cultivated flywheel

Every institution runs a flywheel. Legacy cultivates it.

A biosphere around an engine, tended until it generates its own demand.

L = IωΩ = τ / IωΔη+τ+τ+τ+τ

The arc

From Start to SovereignTM.

01

Before

Disconnected campaigns. Every result requires a new push.

02

Local Tier

The first turns. Proof typically lands inside a quarter.

03

Mid-Market

Compounding shows up over two to three quarters.

04

SovereignTM

Sustained cultivation. External pushes fall to near zero.

The four organs

What the biosphere is made of.

Audience, content, events, and attribution are not channels. They are organs of a single system. Each one feeds the wheel and the wheel feeds it back. The wheel above is the same system running at steady state.

Audience

An owned reservoir of demand.

First-party identity, lookalike feeders, and retargeting pools that survive platform changes.

dA/dt = αP − βA

The reservoir grows when acquisition outruns decay.

Content

Soil for compounding discovery.

Search-ready, LLM-citable institutional content that earns referrals from machines and humans.

S = ∫ c(t) dt

Published work accumulates into a stock that earns attention long after the publish date.

Events

Canopy moments that pull demand.

In-person and broadcast moments that produce the artifacts that re-seed paid and organic systems.

P_event = κ · reach · resonance

An event's contribution is the reach it touches times how strongly the touch lands.

Attribution

Stream that closes the loop.

Every dollar traced back to its source so leadership can defend the system in any room.

η = converted / observed

Attribution measures how much observed effort became a result.

Common questions

What leaders ask first.

What is a demand generation flywheel?

It is a single system that compounds. Audience, content, events, and attribution operate as one engine instead of disconnected campaigns. Each turn of the wheel feeds the next.

How is this different from a marketing agency?

Most agencies sell motion. Legacy builds the infrastructure that keeps producing after the engagement ends. You own the system.

What tier do we start at?

Every engagement begins with a working session that places you on the arc from Before to SovereignTM. We then cultivate the next tier deliberately, with the metrics and infrastructure that tier requires.

How is performance measured?

Every dollar is traced from first touch to outcome. Reporting consolidates paid, organic, content, and events into one source of truth that leadership can defend in any room.

How long until the system is self-sustaining?

Local tier proof typically lands inside a quarter. Mid-Market compounding shows up over two to three quarters. SovereignTM requires sustained cultivation but reduces external pushes to near zero.

The math behind the wheel

What the animation models.

The picture models a working system of equations Legacy uses to plan, measure, and defend a marketing engine. The math is here for anyone who wants to read it.

ΔE = [P_ext + γA] · η_infra − [τ_f ω + βA]

The institutional balance. The left side is what the system puts in and what its existing audience produces. The right side is what it loses to friction and natural attrition. When the left exceeds the right, the wheel produces surplus.

The terms.

LAngular momentum

L = Iω. The product of rotational inertia and angular velocity.

How much spin the wheel has stored up.

IRotational inertia

I = Σ mr². The mass distribution of the system around its axis.

How heavy the wheel is and how spread out that weight sits.

ωAngular velocity

Radians per second. The rate at which the wheel rotates.

How fast the wheel is spinning right now.

ΩStabilization ratio

Ω = τ / Iω. Torque applied per unit of stored momentum.

How steady the wheel stays when something pushes on it.

τTorque

Rotational force applied to the rim.

A push that turns the wheel instead of sliding it.

τ_fFriction torque

The rotational drag that opposes motion at the rim and bearings.

Everything that quietly slows the wheel down over time.

AAudience reservoir

Count of resolved, addressable constituents owned by the institution.

The people you already know how to reach without paying again.

PExternal push

Acquisition spend, distribution effort, and any input applied from outside the system.

Money and effort you put in from the outside to bring people in.

P_extTotal external input

Sum of all paid acquisition, partnerships, and outbound effort applied per period.

Everything you spend or push from outside the wheel in a given period.

αAcquisition coefficient

Conversion rate of external push into added reservoir.

How efficiently outside effort turns into people you own.

βDecay coefficient

Rate at which the reservoir attrits per period.

How fast you lose people if you stop tending the system.

γCompounding coefficient

Rate at which the reservoir generates new demand on its own.

How well the audience you already have produces the next audience.

ηEfficiency

Ratio of attributed outcomes to observed effort.

How much of your work shows up as a real result.

η_infraInfrastructure efficiency

Compounding effect of measurement, identity, and attribution infrastructure on every input.

How much extra you get out of every dollar because the plumbing works.

ΔηEfficiency delta

Change in η across two periods. Positive Δη means the system is improving its conversion of effort to outcome.

Whether the system is getting more efficient or less efficient over time.

ΔEEnergy delta

Net change in usable energy across one period of the system.

What is left over after the wheel pays for itself.

SContent stock

S = ∫ c(t) dt. The accumulating asset of published material.

Every article, page, and asset still earning attention.

σ²Performance variance

The week-over-week variance in observed performance.

How bumpy the ride is from one week to the next.

κEvent yield

Constituents added per unit of reach × resonance at a convening.

How many real new people show up because an event was worth it.

vRim velocity

v = ωr. The linear speed at the wheel's edge.

How fast the outside of the wheel is moving.

rRadius

Distance from the axis to the rim.

How wide the wheel is.

How the wheel holds together.

Orbit Ring

Ω = τ / Iω

Stability comes from spreading load against stored momentum.

Equator Bar

σ² ↓ as I ↑

Variance falls as the system's rotational inertia rises.

Inner Disc

I = Σ mr²

Inertia comes from mass placed at distance from the axis.

Rim Velocity

v = ωr

Outer reach scales with both how fast the wheel spins and how wide it has grown.

What is measured and what is modeled.

Three categories of values appear in the model. Measured values come directly from owned analytics, attribution infrastructure, and platform reporting. Derived values are arithmetic combinations of measured values. Modeled approximations stand in for variables that resist clean measurement at the institutional scale, such as resonance, κ, and the compounding coefficient γ. Legacy treats the modeled approximations as working estimates and updates them as new evidence accrues. The model is defensible because every assumption is named.
