Legacy Engine, LLC ("Legacy," "we," "us," or "our")
Last Updated: June 4, 2026
This document describes how Legacy collects prior express written consent before sending text messages to customers, prospects, and employees. It is published as a permanent, public reference for messaging providers, carrier review boards, and Legacy staff. All consent records are retained for a minimum of four years.
01
Program Summary
Legacy sends one-to-one text messages to two audiences:
Customers and prospects. Account communication, appointment reminders, project status updates, document requests, and replies to inbound questions.
Employees and contractors. Schedule coordination, payroll notifications, on-call alerts, and internal operations.
Messaging volume is low and conversational. Legacy does not send marketing broadcasts, promotional blasts, affiliate offers, or third-party advertising over SMS. Consumer phone numbers are never sold, rented, or shared with third parties for their own marketing.
02
How Consent Is Collected
Legacy collects opt-in consent through three channels. Each channel captures the recipient's phone number, the exact consent language presented, the date and time of agreement, and the user or staff member who recorded it.
2.1Web forms on https://www.legacy.dev
When a visitor submits a contact, intake, or quote form on a Legacy property, the form includes an unchecked SMS consent checkbox. The submission is not accepted as an SMS opt-in unless the box is actively checked. The form stores the submission timestamp, the IP address, the page URL, and the full consent text shown at the moment of submission.
Consent capture: Web form
I agree to receive text messages from Legacy related to my inquiry, including replies, scheduling, and account updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase.
Rendered beneath the phone field on every public contact and intake form. The checkbox defaults to unchecked.
2.2Verbal consent during sales and onboarding calls
When a prospect or client provides a phone number during a call, the Legacy representative reads the verbal consent script below and waits for an affirmative reply before recording the opt-in in the customer record. The representative logs the date, time, call recording identifier, and their own staff identifier alongside the consent.
Consent capture: Verbal consent script
Before we finish, I want to confirm that you agree to receive text messages from Legacy at the phone number you just gave me. These messages cover scheduling, project updates, and replies to your questions. Message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP at any time to opt out. Do I have your permission to text you at this number?
Read by the representative on every inbound or outbound call where a phone number is collected. An affirmative answer is required before any SMS is sent.
2.3Client onboarding intake
New clients complete a private, tokenized intake form at https://www.legacy.dev/intake/<token>. The intake includes a dedicated SMS consent step. Consent is recorded with the same fields as the web form, plus the client identifier and the intake token used.
Consent capture: Client intake
I authorize Legacy to send text messages to the mobile number on this intake form for the purpose of project coordination, document requests, scheduling, and account communication. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help.
Rendered as a required step in the onboarding intake flow. The form cannot be submitted without an active selection.
2.4Employee and contractor onboarding
Employees and contractors agree to receive operational text messages as part of signed onboarding paperwork. The signed agreement is retained in the personnel file and constitutes the consent record for that recipient. The same opt-out and help instructions apply to internal recipients.
03
Types of Messages Sent
Replies to inbound customer questions and requests.
Appointment scheduling, confirmations, and reminders.
Project status updates and document requests tied to an active engagement.
Account or billing notifications for active customers.
Internal operational messages to employees and contractors.
Legacy does not send marketing or promotional text messages to consumer numbers. Legacy does not send messages on behalf of third parties.
04
Opt-Out and Help
Recipients may opt out of further messages at any time by replying STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any message. The system confirms the opt-out and ceases further messages to that number within one business day. Recipients may obtain assistance by replying HELP, which returns a short message identifying Legacy and providing a support contact.
Recipients may also request opt-out by emailing hello@legacy.dev or by contacting Legacy through any channel listed on https://www.legacy.dev.
05
Message Frequency, Rates, and Carriers
Message frequency varies by engagement and is conversational rather than scheduled. Message and data rates may apply depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan. Legacy is not responsible for charges levied by mobile carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
06
Privacy and Data Handling
Phone numbers and consent records are stored in access-controlled systems and used solely for the messaging purposes described above. Legacy does not sell, rent, lease, or share consumer mobile numbers or consent records with third parties for their independent marketing. Limited disclosures are made only to service providers who process messages on our behalf (for example, our messaging platform vendor) under written confidentiality and data-protection terms. Full data handling practices are described in our Privacy Policy.
07
Recordkeeping
For each opt-in, Legacy retains: the phone number, the exact consent language displayed or read, the channel used, the timestamp, the IP address (where applicable), the staff member who captured the consent (where applicable), and any subsequent opt-out events. Records are retained for at least four years after the last message is sent to the number.
08
Changes to This Policy
Legacy may update this policy as messaging practices evolve. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date above. The current version is always published at https://www.legacy.dev/opt-in-policy.
